Kazan University Is Ready to Present New Online Russian Language Learning System

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Veniamin Kaganov visited KFU on June 25th.

The main item on Mr. Kaganov’s agenda was the opening of Russian National Robotics Olympiad. He also accepted Rector Gafurov's invitation to look at new developments at the Institute of Philology and the Institute of IRHOS. Among the Deputy Minister’s official functions is to promote Russian language – and this became the topic of his visit.

Tatarstan's example in this regard is one of the best in Russia. Unified State Exam results show high Russian proficiency among schoolchildren of the bilingual province. As for Russian as a foreign language, KFU also has much to share – more than 3,000 overseas students are currently studying here.

The guest from Moscow witnessed an online lesson of Tatar language conducted with the help of a new system called Ana Tele (Mother Tongue). KFU has worked on a similar system for Russian called Russkoye Slovo (Russian Word). It will be primarily tailored to the needs of Asian students.

Mr. Kaganov then proceeded to walk around Islamica Resource Center at the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies. The Center’s achievements show quite clearly why the University is bound to be successful in teaching Russian to the students of Muslim countries.
