Kazan University and First Moscow State Medical University Sign Partnership Agreement

The meeting occurred on June 6th in Moscow where leading universities gathered for the 16th Project 5-100 session.

The signatories were Rector Ilshat Gafurov of KFU and Rector Petr Glybochko of FMSMU. Both institutions are participants of the Project 5-100.

The Academic Unit formed by this agreement aims to develop biology, medicine, and pharmacy, educate versatile professionals in life sciences and promote the Russian medical industry.

KFU and FMSMU will cooperate in innovative technological transfer, federal programs, conduct meetings, seminars, and consulting sessions.

Naturally, student and academic exchange is also forthcoming. FMSMU is well-known for its excellent clinical base.

As for the Project 5-100 session, it is mostly dedicated to medical education. On June 6th Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Alexander Povalko gave some details on the further advancement of the project. He said that global competition in education will inevitably intensify, and therefore universities must be ready to face new challenges represented by corporate research units and network research centers. It is also important, he said, to not oppose global staff mobility in science – in the end it may actually be beneficial for our universities.
