New Head of DAAD Moscow at Kazan University

Peter Hiller arrived at KFU on May 10th.

Meeting the guest were Vice-Rector Linar Latypov, Head of the German Center of Education, Science and Culture Olga Donetskaya, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies Olga Takhtarova, and others.

Mr. Hiller said, «Academic relations between our countries are on a very high level. German universities are very interested in cooperation with Russian universities. The number of agreements rises every year, there now more than 900 such agreements. There are 11 thousand students from Russia in Germany now, this is the second biggest overseas students group in the country».

Kazan University has traditionally been very close with German colleagues and DAAD, there is a DAAD Information Center at KFU. During 2003 – 2016 over 150 students, postgraduates and academics of the University have won individual DAAD grants and scholarships.

Giessen University and Regensburg University are two of the key partners for KFU in Germany.

As for Peter Hiller, he said he was pleased with the opportunity to visit Kazan University for the first time. On May 11th – 12th he and his colleagues will present DAAD’s programs at the University.
