A new anti-corruption guide was presented on May 5th at a special roundtable.

Arif Mezhvedilov, Vice-Rector for Social Education, said that such a book was long overdue. There is a need to spread systemized information about anti-corruption activities among students and youth in general.

There is currently a program of anti-corruption education in local universities. Kazan University held a thematic roundtable on the program in March 2016 and is overall very active in working on the topic.

The anti-corruption publication that was presented is quite straightforwardly titled “Countering Corruption”. Among its co-authors are Vice-Rector Mezhvedilov, Dean of the Faculty of Law Liliya Bakulina, and others.

Reviewers of the book, Chair of the Department of Political Science Oleg Zaznaev and Chair of the Department of Conflict Studies Andrey Bolshakov, noted that this new guide is in line with national policies. Dr. Bolshakov added that Russian researchers should work on theoretical and methodological basics of the fight against corruption in the country. The textbook is the first such publication in Tatarstan and can be used by other universities as well.

Timirkhan Alishev, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan, opined that the guide is very timely.
