Latvian Ambassador Visits Kazan University

Ambassador Astra Kurme met with the University's executives on April 26th to talk about cooperation.

She was met by Vice-Rector Linar Latypov, Chair of the Department of International and European Law Adel Abdullin, and some others.

«I came to Tatarstan with a delegation of Latvian businesspersons to discuss cooperation prospects, but I am also interested in academic relations. Universities can always find points of mutual interest, students and researchers are people open to new opportunities. I think that Kazan University has a favorable environment for such new opportunities», said the Ambassador.

Kazan University and Latvian higher education institutions have some working relations in psychology and legal studies. There is a cooperation agreement between KFU and International Higher School of Practical Psychology.  Moreover, KFU together with some Latvian universities is a part of a masters program in European and international law in Eastern Europe.

The sides plan to intensify student and academic exchange.

Before this visit to KFU the Latvian guests already sat down with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, paid visits to the Ministry of Transport and Roads and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan.
