Representatives of British Embassy in Moscow at Kazan University

The visit took place on April 11th

The guests toured the KFU History Museum and sat down with several experts in political science and social studies. The roundtable was hosted by Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations Linar Latypov.

Oleg Zaznaev, Chair of the Department of Political Science, was also present. He said, “During the roundtable we spoke about education at Kazan University, about national projects in which our university is currently involved. There are several institutions in the UK that study Russia. If we talk about other countries, England is probably the leader in Russian studies now. In our turn, we can offer joint projects in ethnic psychology research.”

Second Secretary of the Embassy Catherine McCann explained that this is a fact-finding trip aimed at learning about the University, its research and other work. The Embassy is interested in teaming up Russian and British scientists in different areas and in maintaining various forms of cooperation.

The delegates did not limit themselves with visiting only KFU. There were also meetings with the Muslim Board of Tatarstan, Presidential Administration of Tatarstan, and Office of the Mayor of Kazan. Talks with deputies of the State Council are allotted for April 12th.

Catherine McCann added that it was her first visit to Kazan and that she was glad to learn about the University's history as well as present affairs.
