April, 5 it is the first day of the international conference within Tempus ALMEET. It is initiated with round-table seminar Bilingualism in Tatarstan.

It is the first time the meeting with the academic staff from the leading foreign universities has been held in Naberezhnye Chelny. For two years Kazan Federal University has participated in Tempus ALLMEET along with the universities of Russia and Europe. The key objective is to set up an e-platform, the website corresponding to the project direction.

The working session began with the welcoming meeting in gymnasium 2 named after M.Vakhitova. The students greeted the delegation in there languages: Tatar, Russian, English and following the tradition treated them with national dish chak-chak and showed them around afterwards.  The delegation was told about the gymnasium’s history: it was founded in 1906 and it is 110-anniversary. Firdusa Ayupova, director of the gymnasium, followed up the meeting. She pointed out the gymnasium’s major accomplishments.  The guest were active in asking questions referring to the educational institution and ways of inspiring students to acquire knowledge

The conference touched upon the following issues:

  1. Bilingualism implementation in secondary schools;
  2. The Tatar language learning in schools of Tatarstan;
  3. International practice of bilingual education in schools.

Jamilya Mustafina, PhD in Philological sciences, head of Foreign Languages Department at Naberezhnye Chelny Institute of KFU, acted as a conference moderator.

The consortium kept working in Engineering Center where the web site, working packages, and other project issues were discussed. Each partner presented a report on the work done: training courses and coming improvements.  

On this Thursday the international seminar will sum up the achievements of the project. The work of the consortium will be finished with the visit to the volunteers’ center and international school in Elabuga.
