Nobel laureate Zhores Alferov: 'Our hopes are connected with tremendous talents of our people'.

On November, 27 the Nobel Laureate in Physics, the supervisor of the innovation center in Skolkovo, academician Zhores Alferov held a public lecture on “Heterostructures for optoelectronics: history and current trends”.
KFU students and teachers didn`t miss the opportunity to listen to the Nobel laureate. One of the biggest lecture halls in the Institute of Physics was overcrowded.
“I am pleased to come to you and talk about the areas that are mentioned in my lecture”, began Alferov. “Moreover, fifty years ago the first light emitting diode was created ".
Zhores Alferov told about the history of discoveries in this field, the basic physical phenomena in classical heterostructures, the achievements of national science and analyzed the development of technologies in different countries. In addition, he paid attention to the use of solar energy.
Afterwards, the lecturer answered some questions from the audience. Professor Ravil Nigmatullin asked the Nobel laureate, if Russia gets back her leadership in science? “Our hopes are connected with tremendous talent of our people”, answered Zhores Alferov.
