3rd International Conference 'Post-genomic analysis methods in biology, laboratory and clinical medicine' opened at KFU.

On November, 22 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference “Post-genomic analysis methods in biology, laboratory and clinical medicine" was opened in Kazan Federal University.
The scientific event gathered experts in this field from various countries: Japan, Canada, Denmark, India, Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Iran. The leading Russian universities including Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk National Research State University and others were represented. In total more than 400 participants.

The panel included: the first deputy head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, Mikhail Kiselev, the director of the International Tomography Center at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Panel of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Board of Trustees of KFU Renad Sagdeev and others.

The Rector thanked the Republic authorities, the trustees, organizers (Moscow State University and the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia) and the sponsors for their participation in the holding of this forum in Kazan.

According to the head of the university, the development of biomedical research takes place in the framework of the last year signed agreement on cooperation and exchange of technologies between the Kazan Federal University, National Research Institute of Physical and Chemical Medicine of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency and the Siberian Branch of the RAS.

“Such “triple alliance” is a fundamentally new form of cooperation between institutions of various purposes - it is a fundamental science, operational implementation of application development and education – this is the reason why so many undergraduate and postgraduate students are here. I am convinced that a combination of different directions can advance our science and improve its competitiveness. Our conference on post-genomic analysis methods is designed to give a new impulse to the development of the biomedicine”, said Ilshat Gafurov.

“An excellent program, an excellent organization and excellent atmosphere! Kazan became a place for attracting the world scientific community”, said the Head of the Institute of the Bioorganic chemistry, the RAS academician Vadim Ivanov.

The Plenary session of the conference opened Japanese specialist from the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, RIKEN, Naoko Imamoto.
Within the conference there will be held workshops of the famous Russian scientists and companies that produce equipment, reagents and products. Memorial workshops dedicated to the graduates of the Kazan University - the outstanding Soviet biochemists and molecular biologists V.A. Engelhardt and  A.A. Baev - will be also organized.
