Representatives of Latvia would Like to See Scientists from KFU in Their Institutes of Higher Education

Today, on the 20th of November, young public figures, politicians and journalists from Latvia visited Kazan University.

Reference information: Since 2011 Rossotrudnichestvo is a state customer and coordinator of the program of short-term familiarization trips of young representatives of foreign state political, public, scientific and business circles to the Russian Federation. This program is approved by the Order of the President of the Russian Federation. Main objectives and goals of the program are as follows: development and deepening of public, business and scientific contacts between the Russian Federation and foreign countries; promotion of objective perception of socio-political, social-and-economic, scientific-and-educational and cultural reforms taking place in Russian society by the world community.

Young people aged 20 to 35, who have demonstrated their business qualities and interest in co-operation with Russia, can participate in this program.

Director of the External Relations Office, Mr. Andrey Krylov, made a presentation of KFU to the guests, which acquainted them with the main lines of activity carried out by our University. The presented information aroused a great interest with the foreigners. They asked questions about the quantity of students from Latvia studying in KFU and opportunities offered for studying in our University. They also asked what the quintessence of cooperation with European Union was and whether teachers from KFU could be invited to give lectures in higher education institutions of Latvia.

Journalist Yelena Slyusareva (“Vesti Segodnya” (Today’s Bulletin) newspaper) shared her impressions about trip around the country: “The objective of our visit is to find out how people from different corners of Russia live. I would like to say that both you and we face the same problems and questions. I am for the first time in Kazan, and I am very much astounded: it is really an ancient city with rich history, which has been preserved in its buildings, streets.
