Open Europe for Yourself – Participate in Erasmus Mundus Projects

On November 13, 2012 Deputy Director for International Cooperation of External Relations Office of KFU, Mrs. Olga Vershinina, and the head of the Unit for International Projects and Academic Mobility, Mrs. Olga Pavlova, presented Erasmus Mundus programs to students, Master’s Degree students and teachers of the University.

Erasmus Mundus is a student exchange program, developed by the European Union with a view to increase mobility of European students and enhance quality of higher education by means of financing economic co-operation between Europe and the rest of the world.

There are two projects implemented in Kazan University in the framework of this program: TRIPLE I  and AURORA. The first project is coming to an end, while the second one is only at the start now.

TRIPLE I and AURORA is a consortium of ten European and ten Russian universities, with Turku University (Finland) being the coordinator of this consortium. This year documents are accepted till the 13th of December. An application for participation can be submitted both by students, Master’s Degree students, post-graduate students, postdoctoral students, and teachers and administration officers. At the same time, one should remember that partner universities involved in both projects are recommended to take part in a contest envisaged by one of the projects only and that Erasmus Mundus project grant-holders cannot repeatedly take part in contests.

One of the conditions is as follows: cumulative time of staying with the purpose of studying, working in the European Union countries within the last 5 years must not exceed 12 months. An applicant must have a good knowledge of the foreign language in which the selected course is delivered or one of the state languages of the country in which the applicant is planning to study. But the first-year students are not admitted for participation in the contest.

If you meet the above listed conditions you have a chance to take part in the project! TRIPLE I and AURORA grant provides for reimbursement of transport expenses (trip to host university and back), medical insurance, grant (students, Master’s Degree students – 1000 Euro/month; post-graduate students – 1500 Euro/month, postdoctoral students – 1800 Euro/month, teachers, administration officers – 2500 Euro/month). The project also envisages reimbursement of intra muros training cost to the host university (more than 10 months).

During presentation Mrs. Olga Vershinina familiarized the attendees with application submission procedure and answered questions.

It is worth saying that in the framework of participation in Erasmus Mundus program projects Kazan University is not only sending its officers and students for studying abroad, but also welcoming foreign students to study in KFU and inviting teachers to deliver lectures in KFU.
