Population growth leads to undesired consequences, some of which are lack of food, environmental pollution, and spread of resistant infections.

Food crisis is probably one of the most dangerous threats of today. Both quality and quantity of available products are the issues.

Finding a solution to this problem is the main objective of the project by Agro-Holding LLC and the federal government. The project is aimed at increasing yield and quality with the help of biofertilizers which are also biopesticides.

The biotech in question helps convert agricultural waste into suppressive composts – fertilizers that have some beneficial properties. Until now pesticides have been the main means of fighting with plant pathogens, and pesticides are known to be able to concentrate in plants and have an adverse cumulative effect on human health. Pesticides can also harm benign soil microorganisms.

The lab tests have already wrapped up, and it's now time to move to the fields. The results were shown during the meeting in Pestretsy municipal district in Tatarstan. The meeting was dedicated to practical matters of introducing suppressive composts into local agriculture. The companies who were present at the meeting produce sizable amounts of chicken dung, manure, plant leavings, so the technology attracted much interest. The participants noted the combined effect of fertilizing and inhibiting plant pathogen growth.
