Masters' Programs Center Established at the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance

The opening is another step in streamlining the educational process.

IMEF is the first institute of Kazan University to undertake such a change. Vice-Rector for Education Dmitry Tayursky said that previously the educational approach to bachelor-master programs was not much different from traditional Russian specialist programs. But it should be different since they are essentially dissimilar.

Bachelors and masters should be separated from each other educationally. The former take more lectures, while the latter learn to make their own executive decisions. This is what laid the foundation for the new Center. The space was previously occupied by a canteen, but its low popularity among locals made the Institute’s management to change its functionality during the global renovation.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov said, «Ministry of Education of Science allocated the subsidy specifically for the renovation. We are obligated to spend everything before the end of 2015 because the ministerial budget is now adopted on a yearly basis» (it was three years before). The same applied to another renovation project that we talked about not long ago.

The attendees proceeded to look at the renovation works in other facilities. IMEF will have new lecture rooms and a ballroom. Director Nailya Bagautdinova is confident that everything will be wrapped up in due time. She even suggested that this New Year’s celebrations be spent at the ballroom. Two shifts complete with dozens of construction workers are to make sure that everything is indeed finished in a timely and proper manner.
