Tatarstani delegation headed by Executive Director of Revival Foundation Tatiana Larionova returned from Paris on November 19th.

The delegation spent two days in negotiations at ICOMOS headquarters. The nomination of Island City of Sviyazhsk was discussed.

The Tatarstani team included experts from different fields. Those were Director of the Institute of IRHOS of Kazan University Ramil Khayrutdinov, Director of the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Ayrat Sitdikov, Vice-Rector for Research of the Kazan State Institute of Culture Rafael Valeev, and Lecturer of the Higher School of Foreign Languages of KFU Svetlana Khabibullina.

The meeting ended with the formal recognition of the comprehensiveness of the application of the Assumption Cathedral of Sviyazhsk for the purposes of ICOMOS consideration. The full package will be submitted to ICOMOS by February 2016. Then the appropriate commission will visit Sviyazhsk in September 2016. The commission is tasked with deciding on giving the recommendation to UNESCO for the 2017 round of nominations.
