Kazan University Makes Strides in Peer-Reviewed Publications

KFU has significantly increased the number of papers in Web of Science and Scopus journals.

The majority of those is in natural sciences – physics, chemistry, astrophysics, biomedicine.

The statistics for 2014 show about 900 WoS and 1640 Scopus publications authored by the University’s employees. More than third of WoS papers appeared in the top journals; the results for 2015 with 324 papers in top journals have already surpassed those for the entire 2014.

The same for Scopus papers in humanities. Publications in social sciences, economics and finance rose from 1052 for the entire 2014 to 1209 in 2015 so far. 130 papers from 2014 and nine months of 2015 were in top Scopus journals.

Citations in 2014 reached 1.77 for WoS publications and 2.9 for the ones in Scopus.

This growth is clearly the result of the University’s participation in Project 5-100, its expanding cooperation with industry and rapidly improving infrastructure.

In this year’s THE Rankings the weight of citations in the integral score is 30%. Kazan University, as we mentioned, is now ranked 85th in the world in this particular category.

It is only natural to expect further advancement in rankings due to all the work currently underway.
