Kazan University Presents Its Global Student Recruitment System

The presentation was made during QS Worldwide 2015 at Nizhni Novgorod State University, Russia.

80 universities from 43 countries sent their teams to the event. Kazan University delegation was headed by Vice-Rector Marat Safiullin.

On September 29th Dr. Safiullin met with Business Development Manager of QS Zoya Zaitseva. The sides discussed cooperation prospects including a possible future QS event in Kazan. The University and city of Kazan have everything needed to be the hosts, said Vice-Rector.

The next day was the panel day, and Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations Linar Latypov presented a report called “Creating a System of International Student Recruitment at Leading Russian Universities”. He shared the KFU’s experience in this area. The University plans to raise the number of overseas students to 15% in 2020. This seems entirely doable since this metric more than doubled in two years only – from 3.1% in 2013 to 7% in 2015.

Dr. Latypov also talked about a new system of international student recruitment being tested at Project 5-100 universities – the one which was initiated by KFU. The system includes methods, models and instruments necessary for a smooth and quantifiable work in recruitment.
