Kazan University and Gazprom: Together Towards Import Substitution

Representatives of Gazprom Georesource LLC spent time at KFU on September 23rd – 25th.

Rustam Khusnullin, Head of the Innovation and Education Technologies Office of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies, told us that the guests wanted to learn more about the Institute's activities in oil and gas technologies education. The visit was in no small part driven by the need for import substitution and proprietary research for the needs of PJSC Gazprom.

The visitors looked at 3D Geo Center, Lithology Lab, Fossil Fuels Geochemistry Lab, Isotopy and Element Analysis Lab, X-Ray Tomography and Digital Drill Sample Lab. They also went to the Institute of Physics where they paid attention to the Department of Molecular Systems and the Department of Radio Electronics. The guests stated their admiration with the research conducted in geophysical equipment construction.

A protocol between Gazprom and KFU was signed in June 2015. It specifies that several visits of both sides to each other's facilities are to be made in order to promote cooperation and create a full understanding of current possibilities.

The first visit was on September 7th – KFU's delegation headed by Vice-Rector for Research Danis Nurgaliev went to Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC; September 9th – 10th saw the arrival of employees of Gazprom Geologorazvedka LLC to KFU.
