Personal interpreter for President of Bulgaria, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature of New Bulgarian University Boris Naymushin held lessons for interpreters.

Working with him are his colleagues from NBU David Mossop (England) and Tatiana Kara-Kazarian, Head of the Department of European Languages of Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University (Russia). The students are from the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication. Intensive course is held from September 21st to 26th.

"Courses for Tatar interpreters are a part of the state program of preservation and development of languages, - explains Director of Kazan International Linguistic Centre Gulnara Sadykova. - But we also have teachers of Turkish and English here. Synchronous interpreter is a top gun of translation work. We consider advanced training in this area to be very important. The teachers then use this experience in their classes for our students".

Boris Naymushin, interpreter for Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, knows quite a bit about all the stress language professionals have to deal with. He was glad to share his experience with the audience.

"Your university is one of the biggest in Russia. I hope that you will visit us, not only we - you, – said he. - I brought with me a memorandum of understanding between with Kazan University, it covers all the areas of interest for our university. After the signing we can arrange student and teacher exchange".

"Boris and I have already held several such courses, so we are a team, - joins in Ms. Kara-Kazarian. - Our visit to Kazan is a great chance to make acquaintance with KFU and our colleagues.

You have a very keen audience here that is very interested in what we teach them. I think that we will have the same successful cooperation in the future. We pay much attention to the general translation theory during our lessons. I am sure these classes are interesting to all language teachers, not just Tatar".

David Mossop has a vast experience of synchronous interpretation. He has interpreted from Russian, Bulgarian, French, Macedonian to his native English. His main task during the classes is to explain the basics of synchronous interpretation. He will be conducting three practical lessons on Friday, September 25th. They will touch upon echo-repetition on both native and foreign languages and whispering interpretation. He added that he was glad to work with such a seasoned audience.

The interviewees also told us that the teaching of Bulgarian at KFU is currently under discussion. This might become a reality if there is interest from the public.
