Regensburg University and Kazan University Discuss Joint Majors

Guests from Bavaria hold meetings at KFU on September 21st – 22nd.

The delegation includes Director of the Europaeum Center of Regensburg University Dr. Wal­ter Koschmal, his deputy Lisa Unger-Fischer, Director of the Institute for Eastern and Southeastern Europe Studies Dr. Jurgen Jerger, Professor of the Faculty of Law Dr. Gerrit Manssen. The Kazan side was represented by the Institute of International Relations, History, and Oriental Studies, the Institute of Management, Economics, and Finance, and the Faculty of Law.

During the September 21st meeting Dr. Koschmal noted, “Our university is not very large. Our specifics is our active cooperation with the universities of Eastern Europe”. Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations of KFU Linar Latypov confirmed that Eastern European direction is very important for KFU as well.

The main talking point was an interdisciplinary bachelor program called 'German-Russian Studies'. The German side received a grant from DAAD to prepare and launch this program.

Director of the Institute of IRHOS Ramil Khayrutdinov said this joint project is the biggest and the most important foreign regional studies program in the Volga Region.

During their two days in Kazan the delegates from Regensburg are also holding separate meetings with the three abovementioned institutes of KFU.
