Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Provides Advanced Training for Russian and Foreign Professionals

The Institute continues its work on advanced training programmes for the largest oil and gas companies.

The Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies has for several years been a part of the “Engineering Staff Development Programme”. This year is marked by another victory in the bid for such a programme.

Two advanced training programmes will be hosted by KFU in 2015 – “Geophysical and Geodesic Methods of Seismic Survey” and “Metrological Support of Oil, Oil Derivatives, Associated Gas, and Natural Gas Measurements”.

Each programme consists of three modules: studying at KFU, practice at a Russian engineering centre, practice at an overseas engineering centre.

First batch of graduates is from TNG Group LLC. They studied seismic survey methods. Experts from Sercel and Central Geophysical Expedition (Moscow) provided mentorship, and newest Trimble equipment was used in the process.

Education in metrology is provided by PJSC Tatneft. The other participants are Russian Research Institute of Flow Measurement (Kazan) and Russian Research Institute of Metrology and Standardization (Moscow).

The second module – practice in Russia – will be helmed by Sercel (in Surgut, Russia) and the RRI of Flow Measurement in Kazan. The following overseas practice will be conducted by B&R and RMG in Germany and by Hechuang in Hong Kong.

Those are not the only activities by the Centre of Extended Education of the Institute. For example, a geological modelling education programme is now in progress in Havana, Cuba; the client is Union Cuba-Petroleo.

The programme for Iraqi specialists will be launched in the nearest future, conducted in cooperation with the Corporate Training Centre of PJSC Lukoil (Astrakhan, Russia) and Abiroy LLP.

The aforementioned clearly shows that KFU's trainng programmes are in high demand from the best in business.
