KFU is now 16th in Russia according to the latest report.

The breakthrough became possible because of the concerted efforts of our very talented students. Potanin Foundation ranks universities based solely on their students' and faculty's performance – both in their studies and in the foundation's own fellowship programme.

Oksana Oracheva, Director General of the Foundation, met Rector Ilshat Gafurov during her visit to Kazan on September 9th and mentioned the KFU's students' energetic approach and high intelligence.

The rating was first published in 2004. Only those universities the staff and students of which take part in the foundation's activities are eligible for inclusion. Academic performance is the key criterion.

There is no doubt that the University will continue participating in the foundation's programmes. The opportunities grow by the day, such as those provided by the recent opening of the new building of the Institute of Chemistry.
