KFU Engineering Center to Manufacture New Components for KAMAZ

Naberezhnye Chelny Institute is a regional center of engineering education in automotive industry, energy, construction, and other fields. It's only natural that this potential serves the local manufacturers.

The Institute won the "Flexible Manufacturing Systems" grant in 2014, and the end of this year should see the opening of the new lab with two five-access milling machines and an industrial robot.

The equipment is a high-quality, high-precision type of hardware designed to manufacture sophisticated car body components.

The automatically produced components can weigh up to 1.5 metric tons. The main consumers will be KAMAZ and the tenants of the local innovative manufacturing cluster. Larissa Simonova, Deputy Director for Research of the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute, confirmed that this is the first such lab in the region.

The financing is split between the federal budget (67 mln RUB) and KAMAZ (22.36 mln RUB). This lab will undoubtedly become an excellent educational facility for local students.
