Students and Graduates of KFU Triumphant at Summer Universiade in Gwangju

The 28th Summer Universiade wrapped up in Gwangju, South Korea, on July 14th.

Russian national team finished first in total number of medals with 122, followed by hosts South Korea with 108, and China with 72. South Korean team was the first in official ranks with the most gold medals.

Current and former students of Kazan University made their significant contribution to the success with two silvers and three bronzes.

The Faculty of Law graduate Elena Shasharina (left) was second in fencing.

The other silver was won by Liliya Gafiyatullina (right) from the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance. She competed in 4 x 400 metres relay.

The bronze in men's 5 000 m running was awarded to Rinas Akhmadeev.



Finally, two bronze medals were won by a judo master Niyaz Bilalov (left) from the Naberezhnye Chelny Institute (one individually and one in the team event).

The other three participants representing KFU were Natalia Grigoryeva (800 m running), Nazar Lefshits (rowing), Oleg Sidorov (800 m running).
