New Big Time for Our Young Scholars

Summer is always associated with holidays. However, those who are engaged in science value this time differently: they have an opportunity to participate in different conferences away from their regular educational activity.

Last week KFU reps visited Nizhnii Novgorod's XX International Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics in Russia (RCCT-2015) which gathered nearly 300 scholars from 29 countries coping with problems of chemical thermodynamics in solutions, advanced materials and biosystems.

Delegation supervised by Boris Solomonov, Head of the Department of Physical Chemistry, and AP Mikhail Varfolomeev, demonstrated the high level of their research. Thus, Ph.D. student Ruslan Nagrimanov was awarded first place diploma from Netzsch for his “Thermodynamics of intermolecular interactions of n-alkylbenzoate”, and Artashes Khachatryan was given “Outstanding scientific rigour” for his report. His research was dedicated to the study of ionic liquids, which serve as advanced materials for the petrochemical industry. Second place diploma was delivered to “The study of  oxidation and pyrolysis of Tatarstan's heavy oil using thermoanalysis and calorimetry”. These investigations were carried out and published by KFU scientists in cooperation with their colleagues from Turkey, USA and Germany.
