Chairman of the Yunus Emre Institute Hayati Develi Visits KFU

Before the opening ceremony Mr. Develi held a meeting with Rector Ilshat Gafurov.

The Yunus Emre Turkish Studies Center was established at KFU in 2012. There are currently 42 such centers around the world.

Dr. Gafurov informed Mr. Develi that KFU plans to open a Turkic studies center which will not only cover language studies but also pay attention to political and social processes in the Turkic world. This can become yet another point of cooperation between the sides, because Yunus Emre Institute organizes international events on Turkic studies. Mr. Develi also showed interest in supporting the activities of the KFU’s recently established Resource Center for Islamic Education and Islamic Studies. It was also noted that the office of the Qayum Nasiri Institute will soon open its doors in Istanbul.

Qayum Nasiri Institute's main objective is to support and spread Tatar language and culture in Russia, Tatar and Russian languages and cultures in other countries. The Institute offers free Tatar language courses and tests, holds contests and entertainment events aimed at popularizing Tatar and Russian cultural traditions.

In conclusion both sides noted that these new agreements will further deepen the traditionally cordial relations between Turkey and Tatarstan.
