The event took place on June 23rd, awards given by BP Russia President David Campbell.

The cooperation between BP Russia and KFU started in 2012. The company has since given scholarships and grants to undergraduates and postgraduates of KFU. All the candidates are first selected by the institutes, after that their research papers and CVs are studied at BP, and the decision is made about which candidates will be awarded.

Bachelor students receive monthly stipends of 10 000 RUB, master students – 15 000 RUB, postgraduate PhD candidates – 30 000 RUB. This year research groups also had the chance to participate in the program. All the winners of this competition will be given 10 000 USD each to be allocated to their research purposes.

David Campbell said that projects which are presented to the award committee can be different in nature, but they have to touch upon oil and gas extraction and refinement. The number of allowed applications from the same candidate is unlimited. Naturally, the winners become the persons of special interest to BP’s HR team and can further down the road be invited to join one of the world’s largest corporations.

It must also be noted that BP sponsors lectures and seminars with invited experts, 18 of which were held at KFU in 2014.
