South Korean Business Delegation Visits KFU

Gyeonggi Province delegation visited the University yesterday, May 27th.

Gyeonggi Province is a well-known industrial region of South Korea which has recently been making great efforts to expand its presence on international markets.

Ramil Sakhapov, Director of EurasTech Rus LLC, said: “KFU is very interesting mainly due to its infrastructure. South Korean enterprises are interested in establishing scientific and technological cooperation projects with the University”.

Republic of Korea is very active in widening its presence in Russian universities. Rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov expressed his confidence in this cooperation: “We have a huge potential in fundamental science. It’s very important for us to find markets that would consume the results of our efforts. KFU’s researchers do their work, and the Korean side provides us with new business partners. Those can be both governmental agencies and universities”.

Assistant Governor of Gyeonggi for Economy Choi Hyeon-deok proposed to open rep offices of Russian companies in the province. He added, “We see that you have a huge potential. I am sure that before our next meeting Republic of Korea and KFU will have established ties. We feel that Tatarstan’s researchers have their priorities and goals sorted out. We are interested in what we have seen”.

Vice-Rector for Education Dmitry Tayursky gave a broad outline of possible areas of mutual interest. Those are automotive industry, electronics, and medicine.

Naberezhnye Chelny Institute of KFU already has something to offer to our Korean partners – its Engineering Centre is currently working on some cutting edge automotive tech.

Both sides are eager to continue their contacts and to elaborate more detailed understanding of what the main areas of growth are and what could the financing structure be.
