Rector Ilshat Gafurov Receives Polish Cross of Merit from Ambassador Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz

Rector Ilshat Gafurov received a Cross of Merit on May 20th from Ambassador Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz.

The ceremony took place at the Polish Embassy in Moscow. The award means to signify fruitful cooperation between KFU and Polish educatuional institutions and Rector's personal contribution to this matter.

Polish language courses have been conducted at KFU since 2010. The current teacher is Magdalena Krawczynska from University of Silesia in Katowice.

October 2011 saw a memorial plaque installation. The plaque was devoted to Jan Baudouin de Courtenay, a renowned linguist who made enormous contributions to Russian philology and the development of Kazan University in particular. The opening was attended by then Polish Ambassador in Moscow Wojcech Zajączkowski.

The Centre for Polish Studies was established in the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies in July 2012. The Centre cooperates with a number of Polish educational and scientific institutions.

KFU now has cooperational ties with 8 Polish universities: University of Lodz, Jagellonian University, University of Warsaw, Opole University, Gdansk University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology, Institute for Scientific Research and Expertises, and Wroclaw University of Economics. The scope of cooperation is very wide: economics, history, language studies, law, and many other disciplines.
