Irish Delegation Visits KFU

The delegation arrived to Kazan in order to participate in the Tenth Kazan Venture Fair. Republic of Ireland is well-known for its pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries as well as IT, machine building and food production.

IBM, Intel. HP, Dell, Oracle and Microsoft all have their production facilities in Ireland. A plethora of top pharmaceutical companies have also chosen the Republic as their production base.

IT and pharmaceuticals are two priority research areas for the University, so Irish business expertise and R&D can be a suitable match for KFU's plans.

Gerard MacCarthy expressed his confidence in Tatarstan's ability as an innovation and IT centre of Russia. He added that the experience of Ireland can be very helpful in this regard because some of the steps that Tatarstan tries to reproduce today have been already made by Ireland recently.

After having a conversation with vice-rectors Linar Latypov and Dmitry Tayursky MacCarthy confessed that what he had seen at KFU far exceeded his expectations from a Russian university.

Head of the Irish delegation told that there is sadly too much outright misinformation when it comes to the stories about Russian science, education and students' sentiments. He remarked that Kazan University clearly has its unique atmosphere and takes pride in its history.
