UNESCO Youth Model meets at KFU

UNESCO World Heritage Committee Youth Model is meeting in Kazan on July 1-9 within the framework of the 36th Session of World Heritage Committee held in Saint Petersburg.

Discussion topics deal with the 1972 Convention on Cultural and Natural Heritage. Following the greeting of Linar Latypov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, young participants got involved in presenting nominations of their respective and lively discussions of their strengths and weaknesses. One of them was the presentation of historical Sviyazhsk island outside Kazan for prospective ins­cription. Another nomination from Tatarstan for the high UNESCO status is Bulgar had been presented the day before. The both sites represent the Orthodox and Muslim traditions of the region respectively.
