Rector Ilshat Gafurov informed the KFU management about upcoming changes.
The meeting took place in Moscow on January 31st. Also present were President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov.
Education in Tatarstan, including Kazan Federal University and its development, was discussed in detail. Dr. Vasilyeva opined that the University Clinic and medical education at KFU are one of the best such practices in the nation.
Pedagogical education was also touched on. President Minnikhanov suggested that all teacher education in the Republic be transferred to KFU. The necessity to increase enrolment to humanities was also mentioned.
The Minister supported President Minnikhanov’s proposal to merge Almetyevsk State Petroleum Institute into KFU. The procedure had been discussed by both institutions and JSC Tatneft (ASPU’s sponsor) beforehand. The transfer commission will include representatives from Government of Tatarstan, Ministries of Education and Science (federal and provincial), and Kazan University, and will be stationed in Kazan.
In other news, two major engineering centers – Eidos Medical Science Center and Regional Chemical Technology Engineering Center – will also be soon parts of Kazan University. The University will own the controlling stake in both companies.
Furthermore, during a morning briefing the Rector gave directions to launch the Corporate University project. It will accumulate all the issues pertaining to internal training for prospective and current KFU employees.
Lastly, a decision was made to establish a separate museum of Nikolai Lobachevsly. This is one of the many events on the agenda of the Lobachevsky Year.
