Thomas Graf, Head of the Department of Economy and Science of the Embassy of Germany in Russia, visited KFU on December 9th.
Opening the school was not the only task that Mr. Graf had. He also met with Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky and several managers of the KFU’s academic divisions.
Vice-Rector Tayursky, as usual, presented the University's biggest projects and strategic academic units, the University Clinic and the Planetarium.
Thomas Graf said that his objective is to study the current situation and to think of new ways of expanding cooperation between Kazanites and their German colleagues. He specifically mentioned that “science and politics don’t mix”. He plans to make further visits to the University. Mr. Tayursky and Mr. Graf exchanged useful gifts after the meeting.
During the opening ceremony the guest gave a speech in which he emphasized the importance of foreign experts, including a vast number of German nationals, for the development of Kazan University and Russian science in general.
