The delegation headed by Communist Party Secretary Wang Dongming arrived on May 4th.
The guests, accompanied by Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Vice-Rector Linar Latypov, started with a traditional tour of the Museum of History.
Xu Weilin, Vice-President of Sichuan University, told us that he was impressed with the beauty of the city and the historical aura of Kazan University.
History was not the only matter of interest, future cooperation was also discussed. On May 4th during the Tatarstan-Sichuan Business Forum KFU signed cooperation agreements with Sichuan University and Southwest Petroleum University.
Chinese colleagues are positive about the abundance of collaboration opportunities with KFU.
“Our university, like KFU, is active in chemistry, we can cooperate in that area. Moreover, Chinese studies are very developed at Kazan University, Chinese language is studied, and we are interested in promoting Russian language”, said Xu Weilin.
Linar Latypov reminded that there are currently 17 Chinese universities with which KFU has established ties. They extend to not only Sinology but also chemistry and physics, and soon petroleum science will follow suit with Southwest Petroleum University.
