Governor Ali Reza Rashidian and his colleagues arrived on July 18th.
They were accompanied by Tatarstani officials, including Vice Premier Vasil Shaykhraziev and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Valeev.
The delegation first came to the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies and was met by Vice-Rector Linar Latypov. The guests saw the Islamica Resource Center and the Center for Iranian Studies. The latter is a home for over 1.5 thousand publications in Farsi, of which reproductions of Mahmoud Farshchian’s works attracted the visitors' attention. They then proceeded to the KFU History Museum and Lenin’s Memorial Classroom.
Governor Rashidian shared his impressions, "I am very happy to visit your large university, a great scientific center with rich history. I have seen that there are many research centers and educational programs. We at Mashhad have a university like this, only smaller. There are 300 thousand students in our province. We have heard that Tatarstan is a republic of students. We are talking about student and academic exchange and hope for cooperation in various fields".
As Dr. Latypov noted, this visit aimed to repay the one that was made by KFU to Mashhad in April 2017.
Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental, African and Islamic Studies Ramil Yuzmukhametov told us that there are currently over 100 students learning Persian at KFU. About 40 Iranian students are enrolled in different programs, including philology, geology, and medicine. He added that KFU currently fully covers the region’s demand for Persian language experts.
