She gave a presentation at KFU on July 24th.
Ms. Zaitseva noted that Project 5-100 has given notable effect. Russian higher education has become more recognizable in the world. She specifically mentioned the progress made by Russian universities in their international activities, such as participating in conferences and in networking with peers.
She then moved on to the innovations in QS Rankings, Citation window is now up from 5 to 6 years, and feedback from local and international employers is weighed equally. Employer reputation is where Kazan University can make tangible advancement in the next few years, said the guest. Another point of growth, traditionally, is the citations. She also mentioned that international alumni should be featured more prominently on the website and in promotional materials.
Ms. Zaitseva reminded that KFU first participated in the rankings in 2014 and has climbed to 441th – 450th place since. She also gave various comments on some more useful efforts in attaining more favorable positions in the rankings.
The University has significantly improved its standing in the rankings in the last year. In particular, it is now rated in 9 subject areas: Linguistics (101 – 150 and 3rd in Russia), Archaeology (151 – 200 and 3rd in Russia), Communication and Media Studies (151 – 200 and 1st in Russia), English Language and Literature (251 – 300 and 2nd in Russia), Education and Training (251 – 300 and 3rd in Russia), Physics and Astronomy (351 – 400 and 11th in Russia), Chemistry (401 – 450 and 5th in Russia), Arts and Humanities (356 and 6th in Russia), and Economics and Econometrics (301 – 350 and 5th in Russia).
