President of Abkhazia Raul Khadjimba toured the University on July 23rd.
During his visit President Khadjimba went to see the Medical Simulation Center and the Museum of History.
Mr. Khadjimba shared his impression, “It’s very exciting to be here. Kazan University embodies the spirit of Russian history, and it’s very precious to feel this spirit. I am sure that your university has not only a rich past but also a great future”. President noted that after the collapse of the USSR Tatarstan was the first Russian province to begin cooperating with newly formed Republic of Abkhazia. Abkhaz government values this exchange of experience and plans to emulate some of Tatarstan’s achievements in practice.
There are also new prospects in cooperation with Kazan Federal University. KFU established ties with Abkhazian State University in August 2011 by signing a cooperation agreement concerning joint projects in environmental protection and natural resources.
Institute of Management, Economics and Finance of KFU successfully completed the project called “Research on the influence of the estuaries of Abkhazian rivers on the Black Sea environment” in cooperation with the Institute of Ecology of the Academy of Science of Abkhazia.
Moreover, 2 students from Abkhazia studied at KFU in the 2014/2015 academic year, and 11 researchers from the Water Ecosystems Lab of KFU visited Abkhazia in 2014 to conduct field work.
