On October 7, a delegation from Oman led by Fadel Jalil, the head of the Department of Culture and Education of the Oman Embassy in Russia, visited Kazan Federal University. The delegation also included representatives of the Ministry of Education Shaikha Salem and Khashel Saad.
The guests arrived to see Kazan Federal University and meet its leaders to establish partnership and enable Oman students study in Russia. Linar Latypov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, introduced the university and described academic programs available at KFU.
Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is an Arab state in Southwest Asia, on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, where it holds a strategically important position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf. The economics is based on oil export. Due to the stock draw, the government of Oman plans to diversify its economics by developing gas recovery, iron and steel industry and tourism. The state authorities intend to introduce privatization and promote education.
Today’s meeting was organized further to arrangements made during the official visit of Arabian ambassadors to Kazan Federal University on June 6, 2014.
The parties agreed that KFU would admit eight students from Oman to study at the university on the contract base who would then transfer to publicly-funded section on agreement with Rossotrudnichestvo Agency. At present one student from Oman is studying at KFU, the other one to arrive soon.
