June 20 – Rector’s Workshop Interdisciplinary Problems in Earth Sciences: Innovation Potential and Implementation Perspectives took place at Kazan Federal University.
The first Rector’s Workshop on June 13 was dedicated to the facilities of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology.
The seminar was opened by Rector Ilshat Gafurov. "This workshop serves as an integrator of collaborative research between institutes of the University," he said.
The first report was devoted to the tool and equipment facilities made by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum technologies Ahmet Galeev. According to his report, the Institute has academic and research equipment for $213.2 million. Rub. These are laboratory instruments to analyze rocks and fluids, oil products, to test mechanical properties of soil, elemental and isotopic analyses, as well as gas analyzers for field and laboratory studies, geophysical equipment and much more.
The following reports covered topics on hydrocarbon exploration and development; modeling of these deposits; problems of engineering geology and hydrogeology; prospects of development of natural bitumen.
Vice Rector on Research, Director of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Danis Nurgaliev focused on cross-cutting issues in modern geology. He offered some interesting challenges for collaborative learning. This is paleo-climate, paleo-biology, paleo-geophysics and paleo-astrophysics and palaeo-magnetic studies, planetary science, archaeology and paleoanthropology, the formation of hydrocarbons. The director defined the areas researched at the Institute: sediments of modern lakes, sediments containing information on past events, unique substances in rocks.
