The main organizers of this year's 70th Victory Day celebrations were personally thanked yesterday, June 3rd, at Kazan City Hall.
Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin gave letters of appreciation from himself and on behalf of President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
Rector Ilshat Gafurov received recognition for the unprecedented student celebrations that took place at and near the University. On April 30th more than 5 000 veterans, researchers, government officials and students marched along Kremlevskaya street. The same day saw the establishment of the Rector's Garden and the memorial plaque for those students and faculty members who perished during the Great Patriotic War.
The ceremony was lively and vivacious, especially thanks to a three-year-old boy who successfully managed to recite a pretty complicated poem – “The Ballad of a Simple Man” by Robert Rozhdestvensky.
