The meeting of federal universities on December 14th was presided by Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilyeva.
In his speech Rector Gafurov proposed assigning a single coordinator of federal universities – one of the deputy ministers. He also voiced an opinion that such meetings should be held quarterly. This will facilitate the streamlining of administrative processes, including technology transfer.
Kazan University aims to unite education, science, and production – the so-called «University 3.0» concept. The University's Competitiveness Program is tailored to this particular vision. KFU now has a combination of all three domains that provides ground for future success. For example, there is a catalyst plant and the University Clinic serving 50,000 Kazanites.
The University's size (44,000 students, over 400 labs, 18 institutes and schools) is now a competitive advantage. Humanities, a source of much obstinate deliberation for many fast-growing institutions, are also in mint condition. In particular, pedagogy is now developed within the SAU Teacher 21. Humanities and social sciences are now equal participants in the University's development.
There are currently 10 federal universities in Russia of which Kazan Federal University is the leader in international rankings (551 – 600 in QS and 401 - 500 in THE).
