Rector of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University Ilshat Gafurov has got the letter of appreciation signed by Konstantin Kosachev, the Head of The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation.
Let us recall that 15 politicians and businessmen from USA arrived in Kazan Federal University in November within the program of short-term information visits to Russia for young representatives of political, social, scientific and business circles of foreign states administered by Rossotrudnichestvo since 2011. The members of the delegation took part in the Round table headed by KFU Vice-rector for International Relations Linar Latypov who made the University’s presentation. The young US politicians and businessmen also made a tour of Museum of History and visited the concert devoted to the celebration of Kazan University’s birthday.
A week later the program’s participants from Latvia, mainly politicians and journalists met KFU Director of the External Relations Office Mr. Krylov, discussed the important educational matters and visited the department of rare books and manuscripts.
As the letter says, the meetings let the participants learn about the University’s history, its prospects for further development, opportunities of international cooperation.
For reference: The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation, commonly known as Rossotrudnichestvo is an autonomous Russian federal government agency under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agency was set up by Presidential decree signed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on 6 September 2008, with the aim of maintaining Russia's cooperation with the countries-members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and of fostering friendly ties with foreign states.
The Program of short-term information visits to Russia for young representatives of political, social, scientific and business circles of foreign states was set up by Presidential Decree № 1394 dated October 19, 2011. It aims at the development of the public, business and scientific relations between the Russian Federation and foreign states; the promotion of an objective image of modern Russia society, its socio-political, socio-economic, scientific, educational and cultural changes.
Young people aged 20 to 35, who have demonstrated their business qualities and interest in co-operation with Russia, can participate in this program.
