Department of Computational Physics

Department of Computational Physics carries out a training of highly competitive professionals, able to solving the socially important problems in modern world. Thus the Department makes an important mission of forming a personality, having the fundamental background and able to develop the creative attainments within the existing social and cultural space.

The Department Stuff generates a higher return from education of graduate students. Particularly this is achieved by the modern teaching techniques and also the computer-based tools of the assessment of knowledge. Department of Computational Physics is the graduate department. The course and graduate qualification works and also the master's thesis's, exe­cuted under supervising of the Department scientists, have a high scientific level, which is confirmed by publications in lead Russian and international scientific journals.

Main fields of scientific researches:

• Statistical physics of liquids, magnetic resonance and spin relaxation in liquids and solutions, the scattering of slow neutrons and X-rays in liquid metals, modeling of transport processes in liquids, glasses, and dense media by molecular dynamics simulation;
• Statistical physics of complex systems, the kinetic equations and relaxation phenomena for discrete stochastic systems, the physics of complex systems of animate and inanimate nature, non-Markov processes in disordered media and discrete systems with applications in seismology, astrophysics, cardiology, physiology, epidemiology, and others, as well as application analytical apparatus of theoretical physics in the solution of fundamental problems in biophysics, medicine, seismology, astrophysics, etc.

The Department holds the recurrent workshop, which deals with the following possible issues:

• presenting the current results of scientific researches, obtained by the Department lecturers, Ph.D. students and aspirants;
• discussing the PhD and doctoral thesis's, discussing and reviewing the textbooks and conference reports of the Department members for Russian and international scientific conferences;
• discussing the current scientific results.
