Division of Arts of Institute of Philology and Arts of Kazan Federal University has got a 50-year-long history and is the biggest scientific-educational centre of the Volga region, which realizes preparation of the high-qualified specialists in Music, Choreography, Fine Arts and Design.
In 1960 Kazan State Pedagogical Institute starts up Musical-Pedagogical Division, its function was to prepare music teachers for the compulsory schools and pedagogical colleges. The first ten years of the Musical Division’s activity (1960-1970) it was run by the Honored Worker of Culture of Tatarstan Republic, docent, a talented conductor and organizer Larisa Pan’kina. The main stress in preparation of the music teachers-to-be was put onto training the choral performance culture.
In 1970-1985 the Division was headed by the Honored Worker of TASSR Culture, docent Alexander Nazarov, who enhanced the pedagogical direction of the students’ professional preparation and actively developed musical-educational area.
The next stage of the Division’s live (1985-2000) is connected with the work of Professor, candidate of Arts studies, Honored Worker of Culture in Republic of Tatarstan and Russian Federation Ragde Khalitov, who was the initiator of the students’ orchestral groups’ creation. During these years was solving the problem of the preparation of music teachers for the countryside national schools of the republic.
The first ten years of the XXI century the Musical Division was run by Professor, Honorary Worker of the Higher Professional education of Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Arts in Tatartan Republic, PhD in Pedagogical Studies, Candidate of Art Studies Faride Salitova. The learning process has included specialization on seven directions: Piano, Folk Instruments, Wind and Stringed Instruments, Vocals, Choral Conducting, Theory, History of Music and Musical Upbringing Methodic. The year of 2009 is marked by opening a new direction called “choreographic art”, that helped to make possible the preparation of the future choreographs, dancers and choreography teachers.
In 2010 the Musical Division was united with the Division of Fine Arts and Design of, which was run by PhD in Pedagogy, Professor Emmogulsum Ardashirova since the establishment day.
The new Division was headed by PhD in Pedagogy, Professor Zilia Yavgil’dina. Uniting the different types of Art inside one department allowed them realize the idea of integration of music, fine arts, design and choreography, and that comes out brightly in all the directions of educational-upbringing, scientific and creative activities.
In 2011 based on the Division of Arts of the Tatar State Humanities-Pedagogical University was created the Division of Arts of the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University, Institute of Philology and Arts. This university is a big centre of education and research in area of Arts of the Volga Federal District. Here the scientific-research conferences, methodical seminars, research works’ competitions, Olympiads are regularly held, and these activities attract a lot of participants from different towns and cities of Tatarstan, Russia, CIS and foreign countries. The biggest interest cause: musical-educational lectures, fine arts exhibitions, creative festive, master-classes by the leading specialists of Tatarstan and Russia in the areas of Music, Choreography, and Design.
