The Department was among the first of its kind in Soviet Union, established in early 1990. It currently supervises all levels of graduate and postgraduate programs.

We invite our students to embark on an exciting journey to the complicated and diverse world of politics. Our graduates are trained well enough he demand of the modern society for adequate decision-making, flexibility and creative thinking.

Our graduates can be found in State Duma, State Council of Tatarstan, federal and regional governments, municipal authiorities, media, political parties, and many other organizations.

Our research interests are rather varied: federalism, political region studies, forms of state governing and relations between branches of state authorities, ethnopolitical processes, political traditions, political identity, elections and electoral process. Naturally, special attention is paid to local developments.
