An agreement was signed between the two sides at the Tatarstan Government's meeting with the company on May 23rd.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov opened the ceremony by announcing that the cooperation between Siemens AG and the Republic goes on despite political hindrances. A strategic cooperation agreement was concluded by them in November 2012 in London, with President Minnikhanov and Siemens AG Vice-President Pedro Miranda being the signatories. Among the areas of collaboration are energy efficiency, industry, ecology, construction, housing utilities, building safety, health, transport, sports, tourism, education, and financing – basically all the major social issues.
KFU and Siemens will now deepen this work. The document signed today covers some of the spheres, with the main development being the establishment of the company’s research center at the Yelabuga Institute.
General Director of Siemens Zdravookhraneniye LLC in Russia, Belarus, and Central Asia Svetlana Gerbel gave a special gift to the University – an ACUSON Freestyle ultrasound machine for research. It will be stationed at the Unviersity Clinic and serve the community.
The document also states that the University Clinic will execute the right of testing newly registered Siemens equipment for use in Russia. This implies that KFU employees and students will be the first to get acquainted with the company’s latest developments.
All in all, the agreement’s main points are in the implementation stage already.
