KFU is actively developing its research facilities. Within the latter three years there has been purchased modern equipment to the sum of more than 25 mln. euro. 2012 saw intensive augmenting of research equipment for the labs on chemistry, biology, geology and physics. 29 new state-of-the-art research laboratories were launched in 2012; in 2014 the total number of laboratories and research centers functioning at KFU reached up to 370.

Unique equipment provides an ample reserve for fundamental research and innovative development of the region. Alexander Butlerov Institute of Chemistry has been equipped with 400 MHz Avance 400 NanoBay NMR-spectrometer which permits to register NMR spectra of practically all elements of the Mendeleev's periodic table. A multipurpose analytical complex of high-resolution scanning electron microscopy installed in the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies provides for a wide circle of fundamental research of conductor and nonconductor surfaces. A unique wide-angle coelosphere monitoring system, unrivalled in the whole world by the set of characteristics, which is destined for search and study of high-speed phenomena in the near and deep space has been installed in the Institute of Physics of KFU. The Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology has got an analytical complex for proteomic research (as the Interdisciplinary Center for Proteomic Research), which permits to solve a wide spectrum of both fundamental and applied problems. The Institute's project team together with research institutes of Germany, USA and Japan has won the Multifaceted research project contest 2012 “Material efficiency as the first step to stable production”.

A Centre for Stimulation Medicine (opened in collaboration with Kazan company Eydos, manufacturing various trainers-simulators for doctors of different specialisations), vivarium, histological laboratory and other facilities have recently been opened in the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, as well. Centres and laboratories equipped up to the state of the art are used to conduct topical researches, develop and test simulator complexes in the fields of endosurgery, endovascular interventions, emergency medicine, endourology, gynaecology and obstetrics, neurosurgery etc.

KFU appears to be one of few Russian universities owning 1.5 meter telescope placed in Turkey not far from Antalya. Together with the National Observatory of Turkey, KFU works on this telescope and pursues research of our galaxy in the optical spectrum. Telescope location is the best observation site in the given region.
