Naberezhnye Chelny Institute is the first branch of Kazan Federal University in the region. It was created in 1997. In April 2012 Kama State Engineering and Economics Academy joined Kazan Federal University, and the Academy was united with the Branch of Kazan University in Naberezhnye Chelny.

University mission: 

Today Naberezhnye Chelny Institute is the largest higher education institution of Kama region. It offers a wide range of educational programs in Engineering, IT, Materials, Design, Civil Engineering, Economics, Management, Law, and Social Sciences. The Institute is a leader in training engineers for Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Energetics.

The Institute trains more than 9,000 students and about 2,000 of them are the students of the Engineering and Economics College.

About 1,000 state-financed students entered Naberezhnye Chelny Institute in 2017.
