Kazan University has been collaborating for over 10 years with a number of Thai universities including: Silpakorn University, Valaylak University, Thammasat University and Mahidol University. Formal relations have been established with Prince of Songkla University (Memorandum of Understanding was signed in April 2010) and the University of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat (Memorandum of Understanding was signed in October 2012). Main direction of cooperation with Thailand is the use of modern educational technologies and the development of techniques to increase students awareness in the Natural Sciences classroom, which is essential for their independent thinking. Starting from the year of 2000, Professor Fishman and Associate Professor Skvortsov (Institute of Physics) have repeatedly traveled to various cities in Thailand and delivered lectures and master classes at universities and colleges.

Dr. Dzhanchay Yingprayun, Vice President of International Council of Scientific and Educational Associations in Thailand has been coming annually to Tatarstan since 2009 at the invitation of Kazan gymnasium № 19, Nizhnekamsk district administration, Naberezhnye Chelny and Yoshkar-Ola. Dr. Yingprayun gives public lectures for students of 8-11 grades and teachers of physics. His focus is the increasing interest and awareness among students at physics lessons.

In October 2012, a delegation of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University visited KFU. During the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with local management. The guests also visited the Institute of Physics, discussed prospects of cooperation, plans for the project of creating video booklets in physics for tablet computers in Russian, English and Thai. By now, the project is completed. IT- Lyceum of KFU introduced the guests to the experience of managing the academic process for secondary school students.

In December 2012 Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University held a seminar on "Scientific Education for Sustainable Development", which was attended by Prof.  Fishman (Institute of Physics).

In March 2013, town of Kanchanaburi, Thailand held the Jean-Pictet competition in International Humanitarian Law. According to the results of a correspondence tour, only two teams were selected for participation from Russia, one of them representing the Faculty of Law of KFU.

In May 2013, two representatives of the Institute of Management and Territorial Development of KFU participated in the 4th annual international conference on quantitative and qualitative research in economics QQE 2013.

In August 2013, KFU was visited by H.E. Dr. Itti Ditbanjong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation.
