Center of Iranian Studies was opened at the Institute of Oriental Studies of Kazan State University in December 2008. The head of the Center is Master of Science, a specialist in Persian language and literature, Mehrdad Ferdousi. Today 64 students study at the Department of the Persian language.

Students learn the language and get acquainted with the culture, history and literature of Iran. The Center of Iranian Studies has a library with 1,500 books in Persian, Tajik, Arabic, Uzbek, English, Tatar and Russian languages. Among them are works of great writers and poets of Iran.

Each year, students have language practice in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Within a month they have an opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, customs of the country, experience the atmosphere of the eastern way of life in the cities of Iran such as Tehran, Qazvin, Tabriz, Shiraz and Isfahan.
In addition to Persian poetry evenings, Center of Iranian Studies conducts various activities on traditional Iranian holidays.

Our students take an active part in All-Russian Olympiad in the Persian language and literature, organized by the Cultural Mission of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Department of Iranian Philology Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University, win prizes.

Free language classes for KFU members: each Tuesday, from 16:00 to 17:20.

"Day of Iranian cinema": each Thursday, from 14:30 to 16:30.
