Cooperation of KFU with the universities of South Korea is implemented mainly in the form of student exchange agreements on scientific, educational and cultural cooperation.

The Korean language is taught in KFU since 2006, the first group of students for Specialist Diploma in Korean language and literature was recruited in 2007. Interest in history and culture of South Korea is extremely high among the students of the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations and they certainly appreciate the opportunity to study the language in Korea: every year 10 to 12 students take part in exchange programs, and this number is growing.

Nowadays, within the framework of partnership agreements and participation in joint research and educational projects, KFU cooperates with the following universities in South Korea:

- Pusan University of Foreign Studies

- Chung-Ang University

- Hanyang University

- Korea Foundation

- University of Incheon

The number of South Koreans students in KFU in the last decade has been steadily increasing: in 2011 it reached 29. The vast majority of KFU travelers to Korea in 2011 are students, sent to Korean universities for a semester training within the framework of bilateral partnership agreements.
